The 1st type commander cross of the Order of the Oriental Republic is made from silver and enamel by Cejalvo - Cruz. 5, Madrid, Spain. The cross shows very fine hand detailing and is despite a minor ship on the left cross arm a very handsome representative of the rare order. The cross comes with its original neck ribbon and the case of issue. Lock latch missing. Blue leatherette with gild rim.

The Order of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay was a decoration created by the 1973-1985 civic-military dictatorship to award to foreign personalities for extraordinary meritorious acts rendered to the country or for reciprocity purposes. The order was instituted March 21, 1984, by the civilian-military administration that ruled the Republic of Uruguay. After the transition from the civilian-military administration on March 6, 1985, the order was suppressed.
