The triangular blade comes with the inscription "Mre IMPale/DE CHAT I/O DELA GARDE/Mle 1860". Three marks to the other side.
Brass hilt fittings showing nice ornaments as well as the monogram of Napoleon (crowned "N"). Wooden grip with intact wire wrapping. The clamshell to the front displays the coat of arms of Emperor Napoleon. The folding clamshell on the reverse bears the inscription "Garde Impèriale". Damaged hinge.
The scabbard is missing.
