Deutsches Reich 1918 - 1945
Major Selhorst - Feldbluse des Ritterkreuzträgers mit Foto

Beschreibung

Major Eugen Selhorst was a highly decorated Major of the German Wehrmacht. He was awarded the German Cross in gold on 8.6.1942 as an Oberleutnant with II./Infanterie-Regiment 186 and the Knight's Cross on 6.10.1942 serving as the leader of the I./Infanterie-Regiment 186.

Two tunics, photos and documents were coming from the family about 10 years ago. His medals as well as other uniform items were still at the family at this time. When researching his career, we found out that his medals were sold in 2021: https://www.invaluable.com/auction-lot/nachlass-des-ritterkreuztraegers-selhorst-803-c-c2848b8b4d
His award documents are still exist.

All items were are offering with this auction have never been in collector's hands before and absolutely fresh to the market. Other personal postwar family related photos and documents are available outside the auction.

Personal field tunic of Major Eugen Selhorst. Selhost was a highly decorated Knight's Cross recipient and had worn his Knight's Cross with this tunic as it can be seen on many period time photographs. The photos do show eactly this field tunic. A good way to compare the photos with the tunic are the characteristic eagle or the pocket flaps. Also, the position of the collar tabs he had worn as a Major is quite characteristic.

Five original photographs ship with this tunic showing exactly the same tunic. On four of them, he wears his Knight's Cross. All photos are in very nice condition.

Privately tailored field tunic by Paul Radermacher based in the hometown of Selhorst. A tailor's tag is attached to the fine silk lining. Below it is a hook to attach dagger hangers. There is a name tag attached to the inside pocket dated 10.I.1938 named to "Sehlhorst Eugen" (note the incorrect spelling). That means he had worn this tunic for at least seven years changing his rank insignia quite a few times. The photo do show Leutnant,  Hauptmann and finally Major insignia. The tunic was promoted a few times and now show Major insignia. There is an old stiching line or earlier tabs and indeed the original photos confirm that the tabs and boards had changed. The eagle is definitely exactly the same as on the photos and is still period time attached.

There are buttons attached underneath the collar to attach his Knight's Cross! A very interesting detail and the most important detail when it comes to a Knight's Cross winner's tunic. There are several loops for ribbon bars or a Close Combat Clasp and at least four other awards including the German Cross in gold. All loops show clear signs of wear.

The buttons are complete. There are a few moth holes to this tunic which however still comes in good condition 2.

An extremely rare "true" Knight's Cross winner's tunic with photo proof available to the market for the very first time!
