Wehrpaß des Deutschen Kreuz in Gold Trägers Hauptmann Werner Hagelloch

Beschreibung
Wehrpaß to German Cross in gold recipient Hauptmann d.R. Werner Hagelloch. Posthumously awarded the German Cross in gold on 7.12.1944 by 2./Panzeraufklärungs-Abteilung 23.

Issued on 5.11.1937 at Schwäbisch Hall. He volunteered to Panzeraufklärungs-Abteilung 5 on 15.10.1938. Original attached photo.

Two pages with all his units from 1.12.1938 until 31.10.1944!
Awards on page 23 and 26:
- Sudetenland Medal
- General Assault Badge ("Besonderes Sturmabzeichen")
- Tank Assault Badge in bronze
- Wound Badge in black
- Wound Badge in silver
- 1939 Iron Cross 1st and 2nd Class
- Krim Shield
- Wound Badge in gold
- 1939 Knight's Cross to the Iron Cross

There is no entry for the German Cross in gold! The Wehrpaß was most probably sent home to the family before he was posthumously awarded.

Furthermore I believe that the entry for the Knight's Cross is postwar. It makes no sense and also does not look to be done properly. The dates "29.5.42" and "16.5.42" next to the Iron Cross 1st and 2nd Class (E.K.Iu.II.) look to be written with the same ink. A collector could have added those notes.

A long list with all battles he was part of on page 32,33,34,35 and 48 dating back from 25.8.1939 until 31.10.1944.

A note on page 46 that he died on the way to the "Hauptverbandsplatz" (H.V.Pfl.) on 31.10.1944.
You can't read the date of the award entry for the Wound Badge in gold properly but it is very likely this was awarded to him posthumously as well. He must have died from a serious injury on the way to the hospital.

A very interesting Wehrpaß!
Good condition 2.
