Italien Gren.Rgt.1060 Deutsches Kreuz in Gold Dokumente des Lt.Hilderbrand

Beschreibung

Heer German Cross in gold grouping to Leutnant Georg Hildebrand serving with  Jäger-Regiment 2 and Grenadier-Regiment 1060.

Hildebrand played an important role during the battles at Monte delle Formiche in Italy in 1944 with his Kompanie (2./Gren.Rgt.1060). His Kompanie was seriously involved in close combat in this city (Haeuserkampf).Hilderbrand held out even if being wounded. This brave act was reported at a November 1944 dated document which is part of this grouping which was the application for the award of the German Cross in gold. Another December 1944 dated document confirmed that the act was valid. "Obige Tapferkeit fuer Leutnant Hildebrand wird anerkannt". It was signed by his regiment commander.

If the German Cross was actually awarded to him, we don´t know. Hilderbrand is not listed in books.
