Heer - Säbel für Offizier mit Damastklinge - Paul Müller

Beschreibung
Extremely rare Heer officer's sabre with a hand-forged damascus blade by "Reichsschmiedemeister" Paul Müller. The sabre was presented to an officer called "Bernd" by his siblings Fritz, Gerd and Carde. A beautifully etched dedication to the front side: "Unserem lb. Bruder Bernd von seinen Geschwistern Fritz, Gerd u. Carde."

Excellent gilding to the sunken letters. The position of the first line is rather high and therefore there is minor signs of use to these words. One very light rust stain above the letter "e". It might disappear once carefully cleaned with ordinary oil. The gilding of the letters will be much nicer in real than we can show on the pictures.

Etched maker mark: "Paul Müller Solingen Handarbeit".

Brass handle with lion's head. An aristocratic family crest engraved to the reverse shield of the cross guard.
Black grip without cracks. Original attached officer's port epee.

Fine scabbard in very nice condition. Over 95% of the original black color. One tiny dent. A bit of rust to the ring.

Good condition 2.
Length: 98cm.

An exclusive present given to a Wehrmacht officer. This example would have cost a serious amount of money back in time. Researching the crest will bring light in the family name.

Paul Müller can be considered as the best German blacksmith of his time. He exhibited at the show "Schaffendes Volk" and became Gausieger in his class. He was promoted a leader of the "Reichslehrschmiede" and moved to Dachau where he worked as "Reichsschmiedemeister". Paul Müller manufactured most of the SS honor presentation daggers and swords given by Himmler.
