Important wooden presentation case which is suppose to have contained a large book. Most probably a guestbook. According to the consignor, this belonged to a man who worked as maintenance man during the war. He took it at the end of the war and kept it for a long time.
There is a blank stamp to the bottom which could read "Reichkanzlei". It is about 9cm long. Would this impressive wooden presentation case held the Reichskanzlei guestbook?
Construction from solid wood. Original white paint. There were four golden swastikas to the top once. One to every corner. All four swastikas were removed. Gilt bordering to the top. Lines to the edges. Full gilding to the bottom and the inner top.
Inside measurements: 55,5cm x 31cm x 7,5cm
Outside measurements: 61cm x 38cm x 10,5cm
A great high quality case which could certainly tell some story!
