SS fur-lined back-pack (ie. 'Tornister') being an example that is clearly marked: 'VA 40/38 SS III'. The 'standard-issued'- pre-war-period back-pack comes complete with all its leather-based straps and lashes (and metal- ie. aluminum-based parts) and has an untouched and complete interior. The pair is as stated above excellently marked on the top back-side and bears the impressed stamp: 'VA 40/38 SS III': next to this is also one of the carrying-straps stamped with an 'SS' dry-stamp (this is, however, hard to decypher). The back-pack shows some obvious usage-marks (but is void of any real damage): it is just a bit dirty ie. stained but was never cleaned (nor greased ie. oiled). The piece is also personalized by the owner and shows an inked name that reads: 'Mentjes'.
