Beschreibung
BESCHREIBUNG ANSEHEN

Fine tombak Luftwaffe Pilot's Badge by Juncker, Berlin. Maker marked. Both rivets in place. Nicely worn badge with a lovely patina. Collector's call it a "J1". First type with "flat wreath".

Walter Hübner served with the Imperial "Fliegertruppe" in WW1. Later in the Third Reich he also served with the Luftwaffe and the DLV. After his military service and the end of the war, he worked for the PFL (Propulsion Field Laboratory) as an aeronautical engineer. The facility tested rocket engines for the US space program from 1949 to 2006, including the F-1 engine used on the "Apollo" program.
