Major Heiland (Knight's Cross) - personal Wehrpaß

Beschreibung

Extensive grouping to Major d. Res and commander of II./Infanterie-Regiment 55 Karl Heiland. The grouping was never available on the market before and came of a household clearance lately. 

Heiland, born on 24.2.1916, served as an SS-Unterscharführer with SS-Sturmbann I/73 before the war. He was a law student serving as a NS-Studentenbund leader at the same time. Heiland has started his military service time on 1.10.1934 with Infanterie-Regiment 21 and was discharged on 12.10.1935 finishing his service time. He was called back for service on 26.8.1939 and served in the Poland Campaign and the France Campaign. In 1940, he was ordered to II./Infanterie-Regiment 55 as a young Kompanie leader and sent to Russia in summer 1941. He stayed with this regiment which was part of 17. Infanterie-Regiment until he was reported missing in action on 30.9.1943. Heiland served as commander of II./Inf.Rgt.55 in Russia at this time with only 27 years of age. 

Major Karl Heiland was posthumously awarded the Knight’s Cross on 27.10.1943.

Wehrpass to Major der Reserve Karl Heiland serving with Infanterie-Regiment 55 and Grenadier-Regiment 55. Posthumously awarded the Knight's Cross on 27.10.1942 as Hauptmann.

Issued on 22.4.1936 with originally applied photography. Reported missing in action on 30.9.1943. His units are listed on page 12 and 13.

- Infantry Assault Badge in silver

- Wound Badge in black

- East Medal on 16.8.1942

- Wound Badge in silver

- 1939 Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross on 27.10.1943. Noted on page 46 "Lt. Mittlung Gren.Rgt. 55 vom 20.1.1944 wurde am 27.10.43 das Ritterkreuz verliehen. Neustadt/Aisch, den 10.3.1944." Signed by an Oberstleutnant. Posthumously awarded!

All awards are registered in the Wehrpass.

Furthermore a long campaign list from 1.9.1939 until 30.9.1943. Noted on fives pages. He was involved in the campaigns in Poland, France, Belgium, Ukraine, and Russia.

Promoted a Major, Führerhauptquartier on 1.9.1943, Signed by Oberstleutnant Schmitt. Dated "Neustadt/Aisch 18.2.1944". Noted on page 26.

Including an extra Wehrpass protective cover as well as a letter to his wife confirming this Wehrpaß was sent home to her after his death. Dated 10.3.1944.
