Major von Schütz (Knight's Cross) - photo albums & Feldpost letters

Beschreibung

Grouping to Major Harald von Schütz who was posthumously awarded the Knight's Cross in 5.4.1945 commanding Pz.Aufkl.Abt. 7. He was killed in action on 31.3.1945. Von Schütz is part of an old aristocratic officers family. His father Hugo von Schütz served as page for Kaiser Wilhelm II in 1891. He later served as a highly decorated officer in Verdun, France.

Hundreds of WW2 period time Feldpost letters sent to or from him. Many with his letter head "Oberleutnant Harald von Schütz.

Modern photo album set up by his wife with only original photographs inside. Non of the photos were glued and can be removed easily. Nicely subtitled. She had taken the information from the reverse of the photos. It contains interesting 19th century photos of his father Hugo von Schütz. It confirms that von Schütz took part in the Poland Campaign in 1939. There are great photos of his time as a Hauptmann and commander of a Panzergrenadier Kompanie. There are photos of von Schütz wearing his black Panzer wrapper and wearing the German Cross in gold.
There is one photo showing Adolf Hitler visiting the front. Probably in Russia. Many photos were actually taken in Russia. Countless photos show tanks, motorcyclist as well as other vehicles.

Roughly 344 photos in total.

Impressive 1934 dated photo album of Harald von Schütz visiting London. Certainly a rare journey at this time. It ends with photos dated 1940.
