A stunning photo grouping of members of III./Jagdgeschwader 53. A few show the pilot and Knight's Cross winner Erich Schmidt. There are also two photos taken during the awarding ceremony. Oberleutnant Erich Schmidt was awarded the Knight's Cross on 23.7.1941. He was shot down and died on 31.8.1941. The photograph part of the grouping must be one the last taken of him.
