Impressive Austrian hunting dagger, a so-called "Hirschfänger".

The dagger comes with a  58.5 cm long steel blade. One side shows unknown markings. Pitting on both sides. Mother-of-pearl grip plates with a "rosette" on both sides. Furthermore, a lion's head pommel. The crossguard shows the engraved initials "R.F.".  Clamshell crossguard with hunting motifs. Silver-plated brass handle fittings. 

The scabbard (magnetic) comes with the original finish. The finely decorated fittings feature a lion's head on the obverse and a crowned "F" with bugle on the reverse. Framed by beautiful oak leaf ornaments. On the front of the scabbard is a small pocket, where the recipient can put a small hunting knife. The matching knife is present. It comes with genuine horn grip plates.

Length of hunting knife: 18 cm.

Signs of use.

Comes with the original bandolier. Made of brocade material. Dark green velvet backing. Excellent silvered and decorated metal fittings bearing a royal monogram as well as a signal horn. Very impressive is the fitting of a stag's head. Three small chains connect it to the fitting that bears the royal monogram.
