Important untouched piece of history! Original attached 1942 dated tropical Wehrmacht field cap which was worn by an Afrikakorps officer. It belonged to a medic which was later promoted an officer and called for service as a Gebirgsjäger.
You can see traces of removed blue soutache if you look closely. The Edelweiss badge is 100% original attached by hand. It broke into two pieces however, is still secured firmly.
Machine-woven cap eagle and cockade. Both original attached. Cockade attached by machine, eagle attached by hand.
Officer's cord added after promotion. The cap orignally left the factory as an EM/NCO pattern.
Zinc grommets. Typical red lining. Size 58 stamped and maker marked: "Alfred Valet – Mützenfabrik – Stuttgart-Bad Cannstatt".
