A German M42 helmet. The latest type of helmet issued to Heer, Luftwaffe, Kriegsmarine, Polizei and Waffen-SS troops. This example was issued by the Heer.
Paint: Original factory paint. Around 90% still present. Signs of wear.
Decals: The eagle decal is over 95%. It is very rare to find a decal on an M42 helmet.
Lining: Flexible leather lining. Still soft. Orginal cord. 56 size stamped. It looks like it has been treated with saddle soap once.
The prongs look unopened.
Chin strap: Quite dry. Cracks. 1940 dated. Maker marked. It was most probably added at a later time.
