Unique and very rare 82nd U.S. Airborne Command Post wooden sign. This sign was indicating the Command Post of the 82nd Headquarters Company in the town of Stavelot in the Ardennes (Belgium) where it was established in February 1945. This sign was applied on the main entrance door of the CP. The sign was removed from the door when the soldiers left the house and it was kept after the war by house’s owner for over 60 years. This explains its excellent condition. Several official documents from the 82nd Airborne dating from February 1945 were also found in the house. In the period photos below, we see this sign with the presence of American soldiers from the 82nd AB Division and the owner of the house. A true historic piece.
