A very fine Austrian made mountain cap which was used by a soldier who was joined the German Wehrmacht as a Gebirgsjäger after 1938. In fact, it was re-issued in 1942. See maker's mark and date stamp to the reverse of the sweat-band.
The style is generally very similar. This cap comes with the typical two brown buttons as well as an Edelweiss attached. There is no cap eagle. Hard to say if it every had one attached. Typical cotton lining. 1937 dated, size 57/58 stamped as well as many other stamps. Brown sweat-band. Some rips.
