Heer visor cap first pattern (crusher cap)

Description

Untouched family consigned grouping to Leutnant Tröger. Tröger, possibly a WW1 veteran, served as a Leutnant with Artillerie-Regiment 46 which was based in Amberg, Bavaria, his hometown.

The grouping was found in a large size wooden officer's case in August 2021 and containing an impressive amount of WWI and WWII militaria. Please see other items from Tröger's family listed in this catalogue.

A clearly worn and "been there" "old style" visor cap for an officer with a leather visor. Collector's call this type of cap a "crusher cap".

Piping: "red" color for artillery troops
Insignia: Machine-woven officer's cap eagle and wreath badge. The correct type of insignia for this cap. Period time attached by machine (eagle) and hand (wreath badge)

Sweat-band: Well worn. Interesting combination from cloth and leather. Cracks to the inner cardboard ring.
Lining: Cotton
Visor: Hard leather due to its age. Light cracks to the surface.

Markings: No markings.

A well worn cap with a lot of character.
