Heer M42 field tunic

Description

Heer M42 field tunic. Typically designed without vertical pocket bars but pocket flaps still constructed like the earlier M36, M40 and M41 tunics. As an M41 pattern, the M42 also comes with six buttons.

This tunic was period time modified by a tailor due to the personal taste of the owner. Soldiers preferred the more elegant M36 style featuring a dark green collar. All modifications were executed period time and definitely prior 1945.
Modifications like these are quite common and give this tunic a unique touch.

Breast eagle: A postwar attached original officer's eagle. Another eagle was once attached through the liner
Collar tabs: officer's infantry tabs. Re-attached by hand
Shoulder boards: Slip-on Oberleutnant boards. Infantry.

Buttons: All buttons complete. Re-attached.
Lining: fine silk. Some damage. Name stamps. Traces of a Jewish start attached to the inside of the liner.

Clear signs of wear. The insignia are perfectly matching in patina (apart from the breast eagle) and must have belonged to this tunic
