M35 Heer three-tone camouflage strapped combat helmet

Description

This is an outstanding and very rare M1935 Heer three-tone camouflage helmet with the field made foliage band system. The helmet is an « EF64 » with a lot number of « 21745 ». The helmet was recovered during the war in the village of Bona in France. A dead German soldier was laying in front of the farm of a villager and he took the helmet. It remained in the family until 2003 when it was sold to a local collector. The helmet remains in untouched and undisturbed condition. The exterior is painted in a very thick three-tone camouflage by brush with the addition of a field made and period applied foliage band system that is overpainted. The field made foliage band is made from several sections of a heavy canvas material, machine sewn and hooked to the helmet in four sections with larger metal hooks. The interior is in the same condition as the exterior. Leather liner remains supple, pliable and retains a tan color. Three of the tongues are broken. Original drawstring and leather chinstrap present. The chinstrap is nicely maker marked and dated « 1940 ». The helmet is nicely named along the back skirt in white paint to « Ltn. Schlotfeldt. ». It is a stunning camouflaged helmet with a unique configuration which is in exceptional condition.
