SS-VT side-cap (ie. 'Schiffchen') as was intended for staff serving within the 'SS-Verfügungstruppen'. The piece is executed in field-grey-coloured wool and shows a (typical) greyish-coloured lining. The cap is void of any makers'-designation but shows a (period) attached linnen-based etiket that reads: 'VA 82/38 SS'. #
The cap is void of any vent-holes and shows a metal-chrome based skull-button in place (which is period- attached by means of a ring as to be expected) and also shows the white-coloured (albeit somewhat yellowed) 'Soutache'-chevron period-attached. The skull-button is marked: 'RZM - 63 - SS' on its back and still shows some remains of its once field-grey-coloured, painted surface.
The trapezoid-shaped eagle-device as normally worn on the side of the cap is regrettably missing: the stitching-remains, however, are clearly present and visible. The cap comes in an overall nice condition and shows only moderate age and/or wear. It is approximately sized '57' and will with certainty fit a mannequins' head.
