SS-VT side-cap (ie. 'Schiffchen') as was intended for staff serving within the 'SS-Verfügungstruppen'. The piece is executed in field-grey-coloured wool and shows a (typical) greyish-coloured lining. The cap shows an inked makers'-designation (ie. oval-shaped stamp) that reads: 'BORGTEUFEL SOHN - TÜTTLINGEN' (the stamp also shows a date: '1940' and size-marking: '59'). The cap is void of any vent-holes and shows aluminium-based skull-button in place (which is period-attached by means of a ring as to be expected). The cap never had a 'Soutache'-chevron attached. The skull-button is marked: '11947' on its back and still shows some remains of its once field-grey-coloured, painted surface. The trapezoid-shaped eagle-device is firmly attached on the side of the cap (by means of machine-stitching). The cap comes in an overall nice condition and shows only moderate age and/or wear: it should, however, be noted that the cap shows one (7 cms. sized-) tear on its top. The cap is approximately sized '58' and will with certainty fit a mannequins' head.
