A German M40 helmet. The type of helmet was issued to Heer, Luftwaffe, Kriegsmarine, Polilzei and Waffen-SS troops. This example was issued by the Luftwaffe.
Paint and decal: Original factory paint to the inside and parts of the outside. The outside was later painted with a more rough field paint. However, the outer shell looks entirely cleaned. There are maybe 50% of the original paint left. The decal was removed.
Lining: Leather lining. Still flexible but not too soft. Most probably size 57.
