Major Selhorst - Waffenrock des Ritterkreuzträgers mit Belegfotos

Beschreibung

Major Eugen Selhorst was a highly decorated Major of the German Wehrmacht. He was awarded the German Cross in gold on 8.6.1942 as an Oberleutnant with II./Infanterie-Regiment 186 and the Knight's Cross on 6.10.1942 serving as the leader of the I./Infanterie-Regiment 186.

Two tunics, photos and documents were coming from the family about 10 years ago. His medals as well as other uniform items were still at the family at this time. When researching his career, we found out that his medals were sold in 2021: https://www.invaluable.com/auction-lot/nachlass-des-ritterkreuztraegers-selhorst-803-c-c2848b8b4d
His award documents are still exist.

All items were are offering with this auction have never been in collector's hands before and absolutely fresh to the market. Other personal postwar family related photos and documents are available outside the auction.

Heer Waffenrock "parade tunic" to Knight's Cross recipient Eugen Selhorst. Typical design with dark green collar and cuffs. No pockets.

Privately tailored field tunic by Paul Radermacher based in the hometown of Selhorst. A tailor's tag is attached to the fine silk lining. There is a name tag attached to the inside pocket dated 4.10.1937 named to "Selhorst Eugen Feldw. which means that he ordered it as a Feldwebel in 1937 and had worn this tunic for several years promoting it up to a Major. The insignia were therefore changed several times but all happened guaranteed period time! The eagle would not have been changed since it would have been the same officer's eagle for a Feldwebel rank. It is attached by hand. The collar tabs were attached by machine. Old traces of earlier seams can be seen.

Exactly this tunic can be seen on many period time photos. This tunic ships with three of them showing Selhorst wearing exactly the same tunic!

Infantry Major shoulder baords. Sewn-in. Matching officer's infantry tabs attached by machine. Hand-embroidered officer's eagle attached by hand.
The reverse of the collar show removed buttons. A very interesting detail and the most important detail when it comes to a Knight's Cross winner's tunic. He had used these buttons to attach his Knight's Cross ribbon to.

Fine silk lining. All buttons complete. Two pair of award loops for wear his Iron Cross 1st Class (see portrait photos) and his German Cross in Gold for walking out.

Very nice condition. Only a hand-full of small moth holes.

A unique tunic and an important piece of history!
