An early SS Service Dagger to SS-Obersturmführer Arno Rudi Philipp serving with SS-Hauptamt Berlin. SS membership number = 13346.
The dagger comes with a nickel-plated steel blade showing the etched motto "Meine Ehre heißt Treue" and the maker's mark of Carl Eickhorn, Solingen. The Röhm dedication on the back was expertly removed, probably by a "Schwertfeger". After the "Röhm-Putsch" in 1934, all dedications had to be removed from the daggers.
Black wooden handle with inlaid SS roundel and national eagle. It has a fine stress crack on the back but not chipping. Early nickel crossguards. The lower crossguard shows his SS number "13346" and the marking of the Zeugmeisterei Berlin "III". Original black anodized steel scabbard with nickel fittings. No dents. All screws are in place.
Includes the matching leather hanger. Fully working snap clip.
Light traces of wear. An excellent dagger in condition 2+.
