M17 helmet. An Austrian helmet type of WW1. Very often re-issued after 1938 to various branches. This example was re-issued to police troops and is very hard to find!
Shell with period time attached leather liner. Typically for an M17 pattern, the pads come with iron rings. Old cord. The leather is still flexible but not too soft.
Correct leather chin strap. Soft
Typically, the helmet was overpainted before re-issuing. The shell show nearly full factory paint which is however covered with light rust. Signs of wear
Decals: Both decals in place. Swastika decal is only about 20% ("denazified" after the war). The eagle decal is nearly 100%. A small hole was drilled next to the eagle decal which is not unusual when it comes to early police helmets. This helmet might have a metal decal applied once as well.
