An Austrian M17 helmet made by Berndorfer Metal-Warenfabrik which was re-issued after 1935 for the German police. It is "BP" and a bear maker marked for Berndorfer Metal-Warenfabrik. Size 64 stamped.
The helmet was painted with "apple-green" color above the dark grey paint by the factory. Two decals were applied. The swastika decal is about 75%, the police eagle decal about 60%.
The condition of the paint is good.
Period time applied metal ring with a "Baumgartner" named leather liner of Czech origin which is typical for Austrian helmets.
The chin strap is a 1930s period time example with signs of age but still soft.
