An exceptional M1940 Luftwaffe three tone brush painted camouflage combat helmet. The helmet is a « Q64 » with a lot number of « 4933 ». The helmet's exterior retains well over 95% of the period hand brush applied camouflage paint finish. The primary and known colors of tan, brown and green are used. Evidence of crazing of the paint is evidence of a Luftwaffe decal under the camouflage finish. Normal and typical amount of use to include some scraps, scuffs and nicks. Proper rim wear and a very nice overall look to the paint. Split pins are complete, intact and retain the vast majority of their camouflage finish. The helmet's interior is in rather very good condition, the leather liner is nicely worn and yet remains flexible and pliable. Size ink stamped « 57 » on the tongue. The liner retains its original drawstring, original leather chinstrap is also present and stamped with the maker and year of manufacture « 1942 ». The rank and soldier’s name are written on the leather « Gefr. Zaalig ». A unique and exceptional camouflage pattern combat helmet in overall excellent condition.
