France - "Garde de Paris" helmet
Description
M1874 officer's cuirassier helmet for a member of "Garde de Paris". Separately attached comb from gilt brass. Hollow constructed multi-piece construction. Original screws. Original tail from black horse hair. To the left side a brass mounting for a so-called "Huppe" which is still in place and from red fether. Red "houpette" from horsehair attached to the front side fitting on top of the comb.
Iron nickel-finished helmet with rust. Brass chain with leather straps. Signs of use and age.
Inner leather liner partially loose!. Original black paint to the dome but modern black and green paint to the visors.
Markings and stamps to the reverse.
