A German M40 helmet. The type of helmet was issued to Heer, Luftwaffe, Kriegsmarine, Polilzei and Waffen-SS troops. This example was issued by Luftwaffe.
Paint: Original factory paint left. Rust and signs of wear and age.
Decals: The eagle decal is about 60% It looks like this helmet was overpainted once and the paint was removed. The decal was damaged by removing the modern paint.
Actually, it looks like there were two decals applied at the same place.
Lining: Flexible leather lining. Still soft. Original cord. Unreadable size stamp. Most probably size 56.
